Pro-Line Epic Beadlocks & Switch Tires (for Slash) Review
OK
so I have yet to spring for one or appropriately justify myself to
Traxxas for a new Traxxas Slash, but I do know everyone in the world
burns through tires at an accelerated rate on thier Slash
trucks. If you are going to replace the tires you might as well
upgrade and lucky for even non-Slash owners, Pro-Line's Epic beadlocks
are stunning for all tires including Pro-Line's own Slash spec tires
called the Switch.
I of course did not have a Traxxas Slash to
install the Pro-Line Epic ultra-light beadlocks and Switch tires, but
I do have tons of crawlers, Rustlers, Stampedes, a Schumacher Menace,
and about two dozen various vehicles that can and do receive
Pro-Line's newest 12mm hex wheels and tires.
There is a little
offset difference between the front and rear, but it's only 1/8"
difference so those people who are not running equal/even arms front
and rear on their Stampedes and Rustler, may have to do a little
fiddling or live with a slightly noticeable width difference when
mounted.
The HUGE benefit of these beadlocks over any other 2.2
wheel is you will never ever have to glue tires again and you can
re-use your wheels over and over. The cost and sanity savings
are obvious. Another plus is that despite my attempts with a high
voltage brushless systems, the Epic Beadlocks held the tires
tight. The Epic beadlocks also worked great with any tires I
have tried them with.
The Switch tires are unique in that they have
a double (inner and outer) beads that work in conjunction with the
Epic beadlocks to provide extra mounting grip and take my word for it
they do. The only downside is that the Epics have to be used
with the lower profile Switch tires on Crawlers. The Epic
beadlocks, just don't have the offset on Axial crawler for taller and
fatter tires.
Got a Slash or some other RC, pick up some Pro-Line
Epic Beadlocks.
